WILLS POINT, Texas — A months-long narcotics investigation and subsequent raid has netted two arrests and the seizure of methamphetamine and cash from a Wills Point-area residence, according to the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., on September 25, 2019, the Kaufman County SWAT Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the 5300 block of County Road 120 and, upon entry, located a male and a female who were arrested. Inside, investigators found over 100 grams of methamphetamine and over $5,000 in cash.

The raid at the Wills Point-area residence in northeast Kaufman County was the result of an approximate six-month investigation into drug trafficking at the residence after several complaints were made to narcotics investigators, according to the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office.

Arrested were 31-year-old Courtnie Powers of The Colony, Texas, and 54-year-old Jimmy Gunter of Wills Point, Texas.

Gunter, who violated conditions of his parole, is being held on no bond for manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1, greater than or equal to four grams and less than 200 grams, and tampering or fabricating physical evidence. Powers is being held on a $120,000 bond for manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1, greater than or equal to four grams and less than 200 grams, as well as a Van Zandt County warrant for possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1, greater than or equal to four grams and less than 200 grams.
