FORNEY, Texas — The search for a man who led the Forney Police Department on a chase with a fresh stolen pickup truck and trailer out of Terrell has been terminated.

The truck and trailer was reported stolen from the Jack in the Box in Terrell. A 911 caller reported the vehicle was heading westbound on U.S. Highway 80 when Forney police spotted the vehicle near Farm-to-Market (FM) 548 and gave chase.

Following a chase into Dallas, police converged on an area near the intersections of Interstate 20 and IH-635 where the man, described as a black male wearing a Dallas Cowboys jersey and blue jeans, bailed on foot and fled into a wooded area.

During the vehicle pursuit, police reported the man was traveling at a high rate of speed and often times on the wrong side of the road into opposing traffic. At one point during the chase, lawn equipment fell out of the trailer and onto the road.

The man led police through several residential areas in the Seagoville and Kleberg area before traveling into the Southeast Dallas area. He traveled down Rylie Crest, left the roadway and drove along a creek bed before ditching the pickup truck, and fleeing on foot.

A Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter and the Dallas County Sheriff's Department assisted in the search for the man. A K-9 also responded.

Shortly after 2 p.m., police terminated the search.
