CRANDALL, Texas — The Crandall Independent School District (ISD) hosted a soft opening for their newest elementary school, Hollis T. Dietz Elementary School, which is set to open for the 2017-18 school year.
Crandall ISD staff and Board of Trustees members welcomed the Dietz family to the soft opening on Monday, August 7, 2017.
Dietz Elementary is the district’s fourth elementary school and will formally open its doors on August 22, 2017, to begin the 2017-18 school year.
The campus is named after Mr. Hollis T. Dietz of the Dietz Cotton Gin, a long-time staple in Crandall, according to the district. Dietz was very active in both the City of Crandall and Crandall ISD for many years.
A sign from the original cotton gin was saved from demolition and placed in the entry of the campus.
Dietz Elementary was built with the funds from the last construction phase of the 2007 Bond Election, according to the district.
