FORNEY, Texas — The growth of the Falcon tradition was evident during the inaugural Meet the Falcon Night at North Forney High School on Thursday, August 20, 2015.
The Falcon Night pep rally began at 7 p.m. at Falcon Stadium, immediately following freshman and new student orientation, schedule pickup, and teacher meet-and-greets.
“This is the most excitement that I have seen at North Forney in the three years that I have been here,” stated Football Head Coach Lance Gary on the district’s website. “Our community is rallying behind our kids and our programs and the best thing about it is that it is only going to get better.”
Gary estimates at least 1,500 people attended the pep rally.
“It was an incredible success,” teacher and coach Kyle Winkley wrote. “Falcon Nation tradition continues to evolve into great things with nights like last night.”
Students will return to school Monday, August 24, 2015, for the first day of the 2015-16 school year. Many extracurricular activities have already begun including volleyball and football which will take the field tonight for a scrimmage against Frisco Independence High School.
“It was an exciting and fresh new start for the year, as well as new traditions at North,” stated Offensive Coordinator Richard Leonard who also said the event was “great for athletes, band members, and cheerleaders to see that many people come out supporting the Falcons.”
“North Forney athletics wants to again extend a warm-hearted thank you to all who came out, loud and proud, in support of your North Forney Falcons,” wrote Winkley.
