FORNEY, Texas (Forney Independent School District) — The Forney High School Ag Program recently entered several pieces of work they have created at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Ag Mechanical Competition. Forney High School was the only high school to win awards with three projects.
FORNEY, Texas (Forney Independent School District) — The Forney High School Ag Program recently entered several pieces of work they have created at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Ag Mechanical Competition. Forney High School was the only high school to win awards with three projects.
The FHS students captured first place with the fiberglass deer blind with a 10-foot tower that they built. In addition, the program won second place with a 48-foot Gooseneck Flatbed/Dovetail Trailer that they built. The students also captured fourth place with the six-foot Fire Pit that they constructed.
Prior to the San Antonio Show, the students competed in the San Angelo Stock Show. The student's big trailer won second place, the deer blind won second place and the fire pit won third place.
The teams consist of Forney High School Advanced Ag Mechanical students and two students from North Forney High School that are in the advanced program at Forney High School.
The students in the program include Dillion Vaughn, Matt Salinas, Landry Gray, Clay Sims, Nathan Kopfer, Noah Fairleigh, Caedon Jervis, Cole Tucker, Garrett Conklin, Ryan Neal, Ben Gilbert, RJ Hedges and Nikki Scarbrough.
The Forney ISD Education Leadership Foundation provided the Ag program with a grant to purchase equipment that the program used to create the award winning projects.
