Forney High School band advancing to state for fourth competition year in a row

FORNEY, Texas — The Forney High School and North Forney High School competed in the UIL Area-C Marching Contest on Monday at Mesquite Memorial Stadium, having previously qualified at the regional contest two weeks ago.

FORNEY, Texas — The Forney High School and North Forney High School competed in the UIL Area-C Marching Contest on Monday at Mesquite Memorial Stadium, having previously qualified at the regional contest two weeks ago.

The bands competed alongside 26 other area 5A who also qualified for the area marching contest. Five bands were selected to advance to the state competition.

For the fourth straight competition year, the Forney High School band, under the direction of Mark Poole, was selected to advance to the state competition along with Poteet High School, McKinney High School, North McKinney High School, and Waxahachie High School.

UIL hosts the state marching contest every other year for 5A schools and Forney High School has competed in 2009, 2011, 2013, and now 2015.

The Forney High School band will perform on November 3, 2015, at The Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, at 6:30 p.m.

Directors for the band are Mark Poole, Christopher Adler, and Rob Lozano with assistance from Warren Middle School Directors Cody Russell and Wes Hughes. Casey Snead, colorguard, and Shannon Jacobs, percussion, help assist in their respective areas.

Thirty ones bands will represent six areas of the state of Texas at the UIL State contest.
