Forney High School band named Grand Champion among other awards at Mesquite Marching Festival

MESQUITE, Texas — The Forney High School band was named the Grand Champion among other awards received at the annual Mesquite Marching Festival held at Memorial Stadium in Mesquite, Texas, on Saturday, October 4, 2014.

MESQUITE, Texas — The Forney High School band was named the Grand Champion among other awards received at the annual Mesquite Marching Festival held at Memorial Stadium in Mesquite, Texas, on Saturday, October 4, 2014.

For the first time in school history, Forney High School was named Grand Champion at the Mesquite Marching Festival — an award presented to the best band of the day in all divisions of competition.

The band also received the Best Winds, Best Percussion, Best Colorguard, and Best in Class 5A awards for their 2014 production entitled “Immortal” which is lead on to the field by drum majors Hannah Rossler, Joseph Fadely and Alex Martinez. The band competed against 29 other Dallas/Fort Worth area bands.

The Forney High School band is led by directors Mark Poole, Chris Adler, and Michael Mathew with assistance from Cody Russell (Warren Middle Sschool), Emily Keliher (Warren Middle School), Casey Snead (guard tech) and Shannon Jacobs (percussion tech).
