FORNEY, Texas — On November 3rd, Forney High School student Jane Salgado competed in Austin at the UIL State Cross Country Meet. Salgado is one of only a few female students from Forney High School to ever represent at State.
Jane Salgado was honored by the Forney ISD Board of Trustees during the November 9th monthly School Board meeting. A Junior at Forney High School, she’s been a member of the FHS track and cross country teams for the entirety of her high school career.
Sarah Salgado - Mayor Pro-Tem for the City of Forney, said their family is proud of their daughter and her accomplishments.
“We are so proud of Jane and how much she has improved her times this year. She runs and competes in one of the most competitive Regions in Texas for girls' cross country,” she told inForney.com. “We are even more proud of the daily work and dedication she puts into being a runner.”
According to Forney ISD, Salgado missed qualifying in 2022 for the State Cross Country Meet by six seconds. This year, she not only qualified but placed 13th at the Regional Meet and finished 35th out of 150 runners at the state meet.
During the November 3rd Board Meeting, it was stated that she maintains a near 100 average in all of her classes and is currently ranked number 3 in her class. To compliment her achievements, she’s also the current State Champion in UIL Editorial Writing.
“She has been blessed with amazing coaches who have helped her every step of the way,” Salgado said.
