FORNEY, Texas — The Forney High School band took 11th place at the University Interscholastic League (UIL) State Marching Band competition during prelims on Tuesday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

FORNEY, Texas — The Forney High School band took 11th place at the University Interscholastic League (UIL) State Marching Band competition during prelims on Tuesday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Forney High School was one of 31 high school bands from six areas throughout the state who qualified to compete at the state competition in San Antonio with the top 10 bands in the prelims advancing to the finals.

“The Forney Independent School District is proud of Mark Poole, his staff, and talented students of the Forney High School marching for their time and dedication put into our band program,” Forney ISD Fine Arts Director Mario Luna told inForney.com. “Advancing to state once is not easy, but four times is amazing!”

This year was the fourth straight competition year the Forney High School band, under the direction of Mark Poole, was selected to advance to the state competition. UIL hosts the state marching contest every other year for 5A schools and Forney High School has competed in 2009, 2011, 2013, and now 2015.

Directors for the band are Mark Poole, Christopher Adler, and Rob Lozano with assistance from Warren Middle School Directors Cody Russell and Wes Hughes. Casey Snead, colorguard, and Shannon Jacobs, percussion, help assist in their respective areas.
