FORNEY, Texas (Forney ISD) – The Forney High School Wind Ensemble was recently selected as a Foundation for Music Education National Award winner in the Mark of Excellence/ National Wind Band Honors Project in the AAAA Classification. In addition, the Forney High School Wind Ensemble was a Commended Winner in the New Music Division as well.
FORNEY, Texas (Forney ISD) – The Forney High School Wind Ensemble was recently selected as a Foundation for Music Education National Award winner in the Mark of Excellence/ National Wind Band Honors Project in the AAAA Classification. In addition, the Forney High School Wind Ensemble was a Commended Winner in the New Music Division as well.
This is the fifth year in a row that the Forney High School Wind Ensemble has received national recognition from the Foundation for Music Education.
The Mark of Excellence consists of the National Wind Band Honors, National Choral Honors, National Orchestra Honors, National Jazz Honors and the National Percussion Ensemble Honors. It is a competition, entered by performance recordings, in which the top quarter are selected as National Winners and second quarter received Commended Honors.
The Forney High School varsity Wind Ensemble competed in a National Wind Band Honors contest last spring. Wind Ensembles from across the nation were asked to submit CD recordings of their bands which are adjudicated by the top wind conductors in the Nation. This year's adjudicators were Richard Floyd, Director Emeritus of Texas University Interscholastic League (UIL) music, Professor Anthony Maiello, George Mason University and Professor Stephen, University of Missouri at Kansas City.
