FORNEY, Texas (Forney Independent School District) – The Forney Independent School District Board of Trustees recently approved the hiring and placement of two new principals and one new Learning Specialist during the Forney ISD Board of Trustees regular board meeting on Monday, May 18, 2015. All three new appointments will start in their new positions following the 2014-2015 school year.
FORNEY, Texas (Forney Independent School District) – The Forney Independent School District Board of Trustees recently approved the hiring and placement of two new principals and one new Learning Specialist during the Forney ISD Board of Trustees regular board meeting on Monday, May 18, 2015. All three new appointments will start in their new positions following the 2014-2015 school year.
The Board approved Courtney Parker to be the new Principal at Blackburn Elementary School. Parker will replace current Principal Jo Lynn Hughes who has accepted the Principal position at A.E Butler Intermediate School in the Quinlan Independent School District in Quinlan, Texas.
Parker has 18 years of experience in education. She began her career in 1997 as a 1st and 2nd Grade Teacher at Golden Meadows Elementary School in the Garland Independent School District in Garland, Texas. She is currently the Assistant Principal at Davis Elementary School in Garland ISD. Over the course of her career, she has been a Special Education Teacher, a District Dyslexia Evaluator and a Curriculum Writer. She was also the Assistant Principal at Herfurth Elementary School in Garland ISD from 2006 to 2012 before being named the Assistant Principal at Davis Elementary School.
Parker received her Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas and her Master’s Degree in Education Administration, also from Texas A&M University. She holds an Elementary Math Certification, an Elementary Reading Certification, an Elementary Self-Contained Certification, a Special Education Certification and a Principal Certification.
The Forney ISD Board of Trustees also approved Stormy Lemond to be the new Principal at the Forney Academic Center during the regular board meeting. Lemond replaces Grace Johnson who recently retired from Forney ISD.
Lemond has served Forney ISD as an Assistant Principal at North Forney High School for the past two years. She has 15 years of experience in the field of education including teaching math in Denton ISD, Lewisville ISD, Pearland ISD and in Forney ISD. Lemond has also served Forney ISD as the Instructional Facilitator for Secondary Math and as the Assessment Specialist and Instructional Facilitator for the District.
Lemond received her Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas and earned her Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas. She holds a Math Certification, a Principal Certification and a Superintendent Certification.
In addition to the two new principal appointments, the Forney ISD Board of Trustees also approved Leslie Rader as the District’s English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) Learning Specialist. She is currently the Assistant Principal at Criswell Elementary School.
Rader has 10 years of experience in education beginning her career as a Kindergarten Teacher in Crandall ISD in Crandall, Texas in 2005. She joined Forney ISD at Rhea Elementary School in 2008 as a 1st Grade Teacher before becoming a 4th Grade Teacher in 2013. Rader was named the Rhea Teacher of the Year in 2010.
Rader received her Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas and her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas. She holds certifications in Early Childhood Education and in English as a Second Language (ESL).
