Forney ISD Celebrates Academic Excellence with National Honors
Forney Independent School District (ISD) is thrilled to announce that several of its students have been recognized for their exceptional academic achievements through prestigious national programs. These honors highlight the hard work and dedication of students who excel in their studies, paving the way for their future educational endeavors.
Recognizing Exceptional Students
The National Recognition Programs shine a spotlight on outstanding students from rural areas, first-generation college attendees, and those who receive unique school accolades. To qualify for these honors, students must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher and either rank within the top 10% of PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10 test takers in their state, or achieve scores of 3 or higher on two or more Advanced Placement (AP) Exams. These programs are designed to honor students who may otherwise be overlooked in college recruitment processes but have demonstrated remarkable academic prowess.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the talented students from Forney High School and North Forney High School who have earned this significant recognition. Their achievements serve as an inspiration for their peers and the entire community.
Celebrating AP Scholars
Each fall, the AP Program recognizes students who have shown exceptional academic performance on multiple AP Exams. Categories of distinction include:
AP Scholars: Students who score 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams.
AP Scholars with Honor: Students who maintain an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams.
AP Scholars with Distinction: Students who achieve an average score of at least 3.5 on five or more AP Exams.
Students who earn these distinctions are recognized among the top 10% of AP students globally. Congratulations to the AP Scholars from both North Forney and Forney High School for this impressive accomplishment, showcasing their dedication and hard work.
A Special Honor for Vance Waldron
In addition to the group recognitions, Vance Waldron has been named a National Merit Commended Scholar. This prestigious honor is awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional academic excellence on the PSAT/NMSQT, placing Vance among the top 2% of high school seniors nationwide. The Forney ISD community is incredibly proud of Vance’s achievements and looks forward to his bright future.
These national recognitions not only celebrate individual students but also reflect the supportive educational environment fostered by Forney ISD. As the district continues to grow and adapt to the needs of its expanding student body, such achievements underscore the importance of academic excellence and dedication within our community.
