FORNEY - The Texas School Counselor Association recently awarded two Forney ISD Elementary Counselors with the for Counselors Reinforcing Excellence in Students in Texas (CREST) award for the 2022-2023 school year.
Lauren Buerck and Amber Reese of Griffin Elementary received the awards out of a select group from across the state. To receive the CREST award, schools must demonstrate a commitment to using the Texas Model to “improve the lives and achievement of students in academic, career, and personal social domains.”
CREST breaks down the counseling program into five categories: Introduction to the school and the role of a professional counselor, program implementation, foundational components, four service delivery components, and program curriculum.
In order to submit their work for the award, the counseling team must prepare a digital submission highlighting their work and application of the Texas Model.
Griffin Elementary is among a few schools that received the award this school year.
