FORNEY, Texas — After an overnight investigation, police determined a rumor of a threat at Warren Middle School was just that, a rumor.
Forney Independent School District spokesperson Larry Coker says police began investigating a rumor of a threat late last night and, after speaking with involved parties, determined none of the students had actually heard a real threat.
"The Forney ISD School Resource Officers (SRO) and Forney Police Department worked in collaboration last night to investigate a rumored allegation discovered on social media," stated Forney ISD. "Law enforcement has worked with campus administration to investigate the allegation and discovered the allegation to be completely false."
"Due to the incorrect information spread on social media, our law enforcement officers felt it was important to have a presence at the school this morning and answer any questions from our parents and/or students," stated the district. "Warren Middle School has an SRO officer stationed on campus every day that school is in attendance."
Officials say it is always best to err on the side of caution and report any threats or suspicious activity to allow authorities to investigate.
