FORNEY, Texas — The Forney Independent School District released an informational video yesterday detailing the future facilities enhancements the district will soon be implementing.
In addition to the previously announced switch to a 5th-6th grade campus model, to meet the ever increasing student population, the district plans to centralize its Pre-K programs to the Forney Academic Center, according to the video.
Renovation on the Forney Academic Center to accommodate Pre-K programs is expected to be complete by August 2018.
Renovations at Smith and Rhea Elementary, construction of a third wing, to accommodate the 5th-6th grade intermediary campus model are expected to be complete by August 2019.
The district says both projects will be completed without an increase in the school district's tax rate.
With completion of the Pre-K Center, the district anticipates an additional 300 seats for students. The Rhea and Smith renovations are expected to increase capacity by 900 seats.
The district is expected to publish a "frequently asked questions" at a later date after receiving feedback at bit.ly/ForneyFeedback.
