Evelyn Acosta at North Forney High School created a piece entitled “Created Chaos.” Her work was then submitted to the Texas Art Education Association Youth Art Month(YAM) and selected from hundreds around the state to be displayed in the Governor’s Business Office beginning this spring.
In a release by Forney ISD, the district said an awards ceremony will be later this spring.
“The artworks are framed by TAEA, and student artists, families, and teachers are invited to a private reception in their honor,” stated the release. “The celebration for the 2024 Governor's Gallery recipients will be held at the end of the 2024 school year.”
Adding to the excitement, students from Forney High School and North Forney High School had their work selected by the Texas Association of School Administrators and the Texas Association of School Boards Gallery. A state-level contest, their artwork will be displayed at the upcoming conference of TASA/TASB.
The students from Forney include Sophomore Alondra Gonzalez and Senior Evelyn Acosta at North Forney High School and Junior Alexa Austin and Senior Aida Hunt of Forney High School.
