Forney ISD is excited to invite students and families to the first-ever Back to School Rally & Resource Fair at The OC on Saturday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. This free event is designed to help the community prepare for the new school year with information and resources in a lively and fun atmosphere.
The Rally & Resource Fair will be partnered with Project Backpack, the Forney Education Foundation’s initiative to provide needed school supplies to students. This year the Foundation is expected to distribute more than 1500 backpacks to qualified families who pre-registered for assistance.
“It has been a dream for many years to create an event for our families where they can access all the things they need to be ready for a new school year,” Superintendent Dr. Justin Terry said.
“We are so excited to see that become a reality and be able to partner with Project Backpack to meet the needs of so many students in our community.”
The fair will bring together a wide assortment of resources. Community partners will provide uniforms, haircuts, and dental and health resources, and district departments will assist with enrollment, re-verification, and transportation questions.
Goodside Health will provide physicals and well-visits through pre-registration, and business partners will host exhibits and giveaways. Campus staff will be on-site to meet students and relay campus-specific information, including how to get involved in PTO.
“We are excited to collaborate with this initiative,” said Justin Eatherly, Executive Director of the Forney Education Foundation. “Project Backpack continues to grow each year and by combining with additional resources, our families can be supported more than ever.”
