FORNEY, Texas — The Top 10 students from Forney High School and North Forney High School were recognized by the Forney Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees on Monday night.
FORNEY, Texas — The Top 10 students from Forney High School and North Forney High School were recognized by the Forney Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees on Monday night.
Presenting for Forney High School was Principal Stephen Whiffen and for North Forney High School was Assistant Principal of Seniors Todd Hopkins on behalf of Principal Courtney Peck.
“I’m really proud of these young ladies and gentlemen and Im really proud of our school because they are competitive with the best of the best of the best,” Whiffen said.
“I want to say to the moms and dads out there, Mr. Bell has reminded us of this many, many times, great kids come from great families and we really appreciate y'all letting us borrow your kids for four years,” he said.
The Forney High School Class of 2017 Valedictorian is Frances Grace Burrus and the salutatorian is National Merit Scholar Honoree Joshua Olivares. Rounding out the Top 10, in descending order, are: Megna Patel, Andrea Bernal, Jared Wiser, Christin Meler, Bailey Crocker, Cameron Vann, Leslie Hogue, and Hanna Syfred.
“We are super proud of this group of kids and I wont spend a lot of time talking about them because their accomplishments speak for themselves,” said Hopkins.
The North Forney High School Class of 2017 Valedictorian is Anesh “Alex” Turk and the salutatorian is Richard Howard. Rounding out the Top 10, in descending order, are: Gareth Meredith, Andreanna Cruz, Natalia Perez, Haizhu “Kelly” Yang, Cali Brockway, Emily Bracken, Kaylee Dale, and Alexander Peters.
“Congratulations students, you guys have worked hard, we’re proud of you. Your accomplishments will lead you into the next step and we’re excited to watch and see what happens with y’alls future,” Hopkins said.
“It is a fact, great kids come from great parents and this is a product of great parents,” Forney ISD Board of Trustees President Keith Bell said. “I certainly appreciate, and we do as a district, for you entrusting us with your children and allowing us to help them grow. We appreciate your support as parents and stakeholders in the district.”
