FORNEY, Texas — Forney High School HOSA Future Health Professional students served the Forney Fire Department a three-course meal and decorated the Ridgecrest Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for Valentine's Day.
The students decided to give back to the medical community where they perform their practicum, hands on, course programs as seniors in the Allied Health Course Program, according to HOSA student President Caroline Travis.
During their practicum course programs, students ride with the Forney Fire Department and observe the day-to-day operations of the firefighters and paramedics and shadow nursing and therapy staff at Ridgecrest Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
The students fed the fire department on Wednesday night and decorated the nursing home on Thursday night.
Before dinner at the fire station, Forney Fire Department Lieutenant David Ray gave the non-senior students a tour of the fire station, answered questions, and explained the day-to-day operations as well as the call procedures.
The HOSA students will host a blood drive, open to the public, at Forney High School on April 15, 2015. Donors can schedule an appointment to donate through the American Red Cross website once the drive is listed, by calling the American Red Cross at 1-(800) 733-2767, or by walking in during the drive.
