KAUFMAN— Join the Kaufman County Historical Commission at the Kaufman County Poor Farm on April 20th for a day of learning and history, titled Kaufman County Homestead Day.

The Historical Commission, Kaufman County Master Gardners, and Kelsey Davis of Elsie Halbert Real Estate are hosting the event. Earlier this month, Kaufman County Judge Jakie Allen and the Commissioners agreed to support it.

Get ready for a day filled with diverse learning experiences. The event is designed to help the community learn how to farm and live off the land, just like generations past did. Explore a wide range of topics at the Poor Farm, from beekeeping and food freeze-drying techniques to sourdough baking and home goods. Discover the secrets of drying and using herbs, dairy cattle and selections, animal management, farm insurance, gardening techniques, and so much more.

In a statement sent to inForney.com by Pam Corder, she states that everyone is invited to come out and learn.

“Everyone is encouraged to come and gather information about starting their own Homestead Farm, listen to the guest speakers, and explore the Historic Poor Farm.”

Kaufman County Historic Poor Farm is located at 3948 S. Houston St. Kaufman, Texas 75142.
