FORNEY, Texas — 5th grade students at Lewis Elementary donated handmade fleece blankets to Lone Star Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) just in time for the winter season.

The students, at Lewis Elementary in the Forney Independent School District, hand-tied each of the fleece blankets for the children in the care of Lone Star CASA which advocates for children in the welfare and foster care system of Kaufman and Rockwall County.

“When our volunteers visit their CASA children, they often take something for the child,” stated Program Director/Trainer Vickie Nettleton. “These blankets are the perfect gift!”

“You helped Lone Star CASA volunteers make a difference,” stated Nettleton while thanking the students.
