FORNEY, Texas - Two local organizations in Forney recently provided their generous support of Forney ISD students. The Forney Lion's Club recently conducted free eye exams at the First United Methodist Church in Forney and provided free glasses for a number of students in Forney ISD on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
The Lions Sight and Tissue Foundation of District 2-X1 brought the Neil Roach Mobile Eye Clinic to provide eye exams for Forney ISD students. The Neil Roach Mobile Eye Clinic set up their operation at the Forney First United Methodist Church. Forney ISDβs campus nurses screened students who exhibited vision concerns and were referred for the eye exams. More than 60 students from elementary schools to high schools from across the District were bused from their campus to the First United Methodist Church of Forney for the eye exams. Following the exam, students selected the frames they wanted for the eyeglasses.
Students were provided healthy snacks by the Lions Club and activity stations were provided by the high school students in the Synergy Leadership Program. Local optometrists, Dr. Darla Ferreira and Dr. Joel Elsten volunteered their professional time to provide eye examinations to the students.
Forney ISD wishes to thank the Forney Lions Club, Dr. Ferreira and Dr. Elsten for their generous support for the Forney ISD students.
