Tanger Outlets awards annual TangerKIDS grants to Terrell, Forney, Wills Point campuses

TERRELL, Texas — School campuses in Terrell, Forney, and Wills Point were recently awarded $3,500 in TangerKIDS grants from Tanger Outlets in Terrell, Texas.

TERRELL, Texas — School campuses in Terrell, Forney, and Wills Point were recently awarded $3,500 in TangerKIDS grants from Tanger Outlets in Terrell, Texas.

“A substantial part of our mission at Tanger Outlets is to contribute positively to the communities in which we operate,” said Steven B. Tanger, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tanger Outlets. “A high quality education is instrumental to enhancing our communities and we are proud to once again give back to these remarkable schools as part of our efforts to support students and educators across the country.”

In Kaufman, O.P. Norman Junior High School teacher Sara Mary was awarded a $1,500 grant to begin a laundry program to be used to purchase washer and dryer-related equipment and supplies to allow underprivileged children to have their clothing washed while they are at school.

“This program will not only boost their self-esteem, but will allow them to learn a real world skill,” stated a release from Tanger Outlets.
 In Wills Point, Dean of Students Amy Van Horn was awarded a $456.80 grant to purchase headphones and earbuds for devices on campus to allow students access to reading-related academic programs.

In Forney, Principal Rachel Bonner was awarded a $1,500 to purchase guided reading materials for Criswell Elementary to allow students ample turnover of new books.

“In keeping with Tanger Outlets’ mission to support the future of our children, the TangerKIDS Grants program is designed to award grant money to local schools in the communities where Tanger Outlet Centers are located. Grants awarded this month will benefit schools for the 2017-2018 school year,” the press release stated.
