TERRELL, Texas — "Unsubstantiated clown threats" have prompted an increased law enforcement presence at Terrell Independent School District campuses, the district announced Thursday night on social media.
Shortly after notice from Terrell ISD, Kaufman ISD announced similar measures.
"Once again, school districts across the country and in Kaufman county are being inundated with unsubstantiated 'clown' threats," stated the district.
"Terrell ISD strongly encourages all parents/guardians to discuss the serious nature of making these kinds of threats," stated the district. "Any and all threats will be investigated and taken seriously."
"As a result, the District will have an increased law enforcement presence across campuses," concluded the district's statement.
Several Kaufman County school districts dealt with similar threats on social media in October 2016.
