The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office and the Kaufman County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office began investigating an alleged threat that was made earlier today at North Forney High School. A parent reported the alleged threat after his student stated he overheard a conversation at school about another kid who was “going to shoot up a school.”
At 11:41 p.m., Kaufman County Sheriff's Office Captain Fred Klingelberger told inForney.com a 15-year-old male student was arrested and will be charged with exhibition of a firearm under the Texas Education Code due to the threat.
"The Forney ISD School Resource Officers and the Kaufman County Sherriff’s Department have determined that the situation has been resolved and that there are no viable threats for North Forney High School or to any other school in the District," a Tuesday night statement from the district read.
Earlier tonight, Forney Independent School District Director of Communications Larry Coker told inForney.com the district was well aware of the alleged threat and were investigating. Police have been in contact with the individuals involved and are taking action, he said.
"Even though the District is confident that there is no threat to the students and staff, additional officers will be posted at the school prior to the start of school and throughout the morning," the district stated. "Officers will also continue to monitor the school and administrators will be on alert throughout the day."
"The safety and security of all students and staff members is the number one priority of Forney ISD," stated the district. "The District takes any threats or comments seriously that may pose a potential danger to students and staff members. All threats will be thoroughly investigated and appropriate legal actions will be taken if necessary."
“We do not take threats lightly on our kids and this community,” stated Precinct 2 Constable Jason Johnson who assisted in the investigation.
