KAUFMAN COUNTY - The spring windstorms and flooding have resulted in $7.3M in individual assistance in Kaufman County.
According to a report from the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), 8,175 homes have been visited in Kaufman County since our spring weather events, 2,042 citizen interactions have been logged, and 105 private sector (business and churches) visits have been made.
The new application period ended on August 15, 2024, and as applications are processed, the amount of financial aid might increase.
According to a statement from Kaufman County Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Howie, this money will all go back to help the residents of Kaufman County.
“This is how our County Office of Emergency Management, working with our partners at the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have been able to assist our residents in the recent Windstorm and flooding Disaster starting April 26th through June 5th , 2024,” said Howie. “This is money going back into our economy to help our residents.”
