An 87-year-old Terrell woman drove her 2003 Lincoln Navigator into the front of Jones Audiology and Hearing Aid Center at 808 West Moore Avenue in Terrell, Texas, earlier this morning, October 23, 2013.
According to Captain A.D. Sansom with the Terrell Police Department, the woman told their investigator her accelerator malfunctioned and was stuck which caused her to crash into the building. Minor injuries were reported for a female employee at the hearing aid center who was taken to the Lake Pointe Emergency Department in Forney, Texas, by private vehicle.
The front of the hearing aid center sustained “substantial damage”, according to Sansom, and a Terrell Building Inspector was called to the scene to evaluate the structure.
The driver and vehicle were insured. No charges are being filed, but the investigator on scene did submit a Drivers License Examination Investigation request for the 87-year-old driver to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
