ENNIS, Texas — A body matching the description of a missing Ennis mother was discovered in a creek bed in the late morning hours on Monday, the Ennis Police Department confirms.
Earlier today, Ennis police confirmed to media that the body was discovered in Chambers Creek off of Ensign Road near a low-water crossing. The crossing is located south of Ennis.
Emily Wade, the missing mother, was last seen on January 5 — a day when police say the creek was flooding.
The body discovered Monday morning is being sent the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office for positive identification and cause of death.
Police tell WFAA that Wade's vehicle has not been recovered.
Monday morning's discovery was made by search volunteers, according to the Ennis Police Department.
"The Ennis Police Department would like to share our appreciation for all of the volunteers and assisting agencies that have spent countless hours over the past two weeks searching for Emily Wade," read a statement from the department. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Emily Wade."
