A plane crashed in Terrell, Texas, just miles south of the Terrell Municipal Airport on Monday evening, March 4, 2013, just before 5 p.m.
Local authorities confirm at least one individual has died due to the crash of the small biplane. The plane was engulfed in flames on impact and all that remains is a charred area in a pasture several hundred feet from homes on FM 2578 south of I-20.
A spokesperson for the FAA said the plane may have been “performing aerobatics” before the crash. A witness to the crash told inForney.com that the small "stunt" plane had performed several "rolls", swerving into deep banks back and forth, when one of the plane's wings ripped from the cockpit in midair. "No more than 10 seconds later the plane went down."
