The Layden Senior Center began offering caregiver education and support groups for caregivers. The educational classes and support groups will be held on the last Monday of each month at the Layden Senior Center in Forney, Texas.
The meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the next meeting is less than a week away on Monday, March 25. Layden Senior Center Director Dena Pope is encouraging anyone who provides physical care, emotional support, daily activities, doctor visits, shopping, or legal and financial support to attend the meetings.
March's meeting will include a diabetes education class that will be presented by Accolade Home Health.
At the March 19th Forney City Council meeting, Dena Pope was presented with a proclamation from Forney Mayor Darren Rozell that proclaimed March 2013, “March For Meals Month” in the City of Forney. The proclamation urged every citizen to take time this month to honor our Senior Nutrition Programs, the seniors they serve, and the volunteers who care for them.
Pope said that the Layden Senior Citizens' Center of Forney also serves Crandall and that approximately 30 meals a day are served through the center's Meals on Wheels program.
