Many Kaufman County residents have known the shelter by its original name, the Kaufman County Children's Emergency Center. The center was built in 1984 and later renamed the A. Fern Norville Center in honor of it's founder. The A. Fern Norville Center can be accessed online at http://www.norvillecenter.org/
The Community Value and Thrift Store in Forney opened in November of 2012 and also serves as a fund raising entity of the A. Fern Norville Center. It is located at 10330 West Hwy 80, Forney, Texas 75126. It's hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
