Forney, Texas – The City of Forney has partnered with the Forney Arts Council, Downtown Business Association, and the Forney Chamber of Commerce to announce a new Christmas experience in downtown Forney. The event previously known as “Forney Home Town Christmas” will go into its 10th anniversary as “Christmas on Main.”

In a press release from the City of Forney, Special Events Coordinator Alexa Tiesman states, “[The partnering groups] have been planning to add new and exciting elements to this year's event, in the hope that every part of the event will kick off the Christmas season with Yuletide joy.”

The event will be held on December 7, 2013, from 12 noon until 6:30 p.m. in historic downtown Forney. Much like years past, there will be vendor and artisan booths, food vendors, and other entertainment. This year's event will incorporate the City of Forney's Christmas Tree lighting ceremony to end the event.

A Christmas parade will still be a staple for the downtown event. Other items announced were free Christmas crafts and rides, letters to Santa and troops, and pictures with Santa. The press release teases a “very special new feature” along with the tree lighting ceremony.

“The current format for Forney's Christmas celebration begin in 2004, with several community groups coming together to pull off a great event. It is exciting to see that happening again. I'm proud of those who have stepped up and those who will join them. I am looking forward to Christmas on Main in Forney,” said Forney Mayor Darren Rozell.

The City of Forney is currently searching for musical entertainment and holiday performances for two stages. “All acts will be considered. However holiday themed acts are preferred,” states the release.
