A kick-off rally on March 19, signified the beginning of the first Community Rewards program in Forney, Texas, sponsored by City Bank Texas. Five nonprofit organizations will be selected based on an online balloting system voted on by Forney area residents.
Any nonprofit organization in Forney is eligible to enter. Each nonprofit organization will join a growing list of participants to compete in an online ballot to win the most votes. 1st place will receive $10,000, 2nd place will receive $5,000, and 3rd, 4th, and 5th place will receive $2,500 each.
Voting will be online at www.CityBankOnline.com and will run from Friday, March 29, through Friday, May 3. City Bank is encouraging participants to rally staff, donors, and friends to help spread the word to give your organization the most votes. The deadline for nonprofits to be eligible for the contest is this Friday, March 22.
“Community Rewards is a way for us to give back and help many of our neighbors through the caring and dedicated work of our nonprofit agencies,” said Cory T. Newsom, City Bank President and CEO. “We also like that it builds awareness for a multitude of nonprofits and highlights their services and needs. We are blessed to live in communities with so many outstanding and caring agencies, and we are extremely pleased to be able to lend a hand in helping improve the quality of life.”
At the kick-off rally, five organizations received $500 “early rewards” checks for their organizations. Those winners were the Genesis Center, United Way of Forney, Forney Garden Club, Forney Youth Association, and the Forney Rotary Club.
The winners of the online ballot will be announced on Monday, May 6. Over the past five years, City Bank has awarded $260,000 to 40 nonprofit organizations in the Community Rewards program all over Texas.
