KEMP, Texas — UPDATE — A boil water notice issued yesterday has been rescinded following negative tests results at the affected test site, according to city officials.

KEMP, Texas — UPDATE — A boil water notice issued yesterday has been rescinded following negative tests results at the affected test site, according to city officials.

"The results from the most recent test are negative," City of Kemp Mayor Laura Peace told inForney.com. "The positive test was from one single test site; this was not system-wide."

ORIGINAL — The City of Kemp has issued a boil water notice, effective immediately, due to an E. coli maximum contamination level (MCL) violation.

The notice was issued just before noon on Wednesday.

"We are currently conducting additional sampling and initiating a level 2 assessment as per the Texas Commission Environmental Quality Revised Total Coliform Rule (RTCR)," stated the City of Kemp.

"Upon receipt of negative laboratory results the city will rescind said boil water notice."
