Construction crews are making the final preparations to begin pouring concrete on the Pinson Road/FM 740, according to Assistant City Manager Gina Nash.
The soonest crews can begin pouring concrete will be late next week depending on weather conditions. If rain begins during that time, crews can use pumps to pump the water out before pouring the concrete. According to Nash, the construction crews will first begin pouring concrete between Brazos Street and Bowie Street.
“While it may seem like there has been inactivity, crews are still working on some of the smaller projects such as storm sewers, steel tying, and additional survey work. All of these details are essential in ensuring that we have an efficient and high quality product," said Nash.
A concrete batch plant has been transported to the site and will be constructed in the temporary work site which is south of the intersection of Ridgecrest Road, Ranch Road, and FM 740/Pinson Road. The construction of the batch plant is expected later this week. In the meantime, crews have already delivered the supplies needed to mix concrete to the location.
The project, which is expected to be complete by May of 2014, will include four undivided lanes, curbs, and underground drainage.
