CRANDALL, Texas — Approximately a year after his resignation, Crandall Police Department Chief Dean Winters has been reappointed as Chief of Police.
Following an executive session during the council’s September 12, 2016, regularly scheduled meeting, the Crandall City Council unanimously voted to appoint Dean Winters as Chief of Police.
The position was vacated July 22, 2016, when Chief Billy Kilgore issued a letter of resignation.
“Please consider my resignation from the position of Police Chief with the Crandall Police Department,” stated Kilgore in his resignation letter. “I have enjoyed the opportunity to work here. Thank you once again.”
Kilgore was appointed interim chief in the wake of Winters resignation in July 2015 and his appointment was later confirmed by the city council in January 2016. Prior to his appointment, he served as a lieutenant in the department.
“We are excited to have Dean Winters back on board as Chief of Police,” Interim City Manager Jana Shelton told inForney.com.
Winters previously served eight years with the department.
“I'm honored to be serving the citizens of Crandall and excited about the future of the department and the community,” Winters said in a statement to inForney.com.
