On Saturday night, June 9, 2012, Dallas County Precinct 4 Deputy Constable Guy Mundy Farley was killed in a head-on collision on FM 741 near Highway 175 while back en-route to his home in Forney. Farley, a 15-year veteran officer, was off duty at the time of the accident.
The accident occurred around 11 p.m. when Warren Ray Patton, 32, of Kaufman, inexplicably drove his BMW northbound in the FM 741 southbound lane. The BMW struck Farley's full size Chevy truck head on and killed the 41-year-old Constable instantly. Patton was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital with injuries but is expected to recover. The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident and have ordered a toxicology report to determine if Patton was drunk at the time of the accident.
Guy Farley lived in the Heartland addition off of FM 741 in Forney. He was married and has two daughters, one of whom is only 4-years-old. Farley and his wife had taken their youngest daughter to her dance recital and then returned home. He went to a Crandall restaurant afterwards to pick up a late meal. The accident occurred on his way home, just four miles from his house.
Farley was known as a man with a quick wit and a kind heart, as well as a wicked sense of humor. He and his wife Amber were married for seven years and enjoyed being part of the Forney community. Farley was well liked and respected by his co-workers and in Forney.
