TERRELL, Texas — A grieving family is seeking to connect with Good Samaritans who stopped to render aid and comfort to a family member involved in a deadly collision earlier this week.
On Friday morning, 38-year-old John D Anglin was traveling southbound on State Highway 34, just north of Terrell, Texas, when, police say, a truck failed to yield to the right of way and pulled from a side street in front of Anglin, who was on a motorcycle.
Anglin did not have time to take evasive action and struck the truck, police said. He was airlifted to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Family members say Good Samaritans stopped to render aid prior to first responders arriving on scene and are seeking to connect with them to thank them personally for providing comfort in what would be Anglin’s final moments.
Friends and family members remembered Anglin for his heart of gold and willingness to listen.
“John David was a giant of a man, not only in stature, but also in heart and devotion,” reads his obituary. “Always a genuine smile on his face, John could, and DID, bring laughter and joy every time family and friends got together.”
“He loved completely and made sure that each person in his life knew exactly how much he loved them,” continued the obituary.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Terrell, located at 403 North Catherine Street. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at Max Clayton Funerals and Cremations.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Sons of Confederate Veterans Texas at www.scvtexas.org.
