DALLAS, Texas — The final stretch of the LBJ TEXpress Lanes is set to open on September 10 — introducing five new entrance and exit ramps.
The total project consisted of four years of construction along 16.5-miles of LBJ Freeway from Luna Road to Greenville Avenue.
With the completion is the introduction of variable rate TEXpress managed toll lanes. The goal of the TEXpress project is to keep drivers moving at 50 miles per hour. Rates will adjust depending on highway congestion which will be measured by sensors in the roadway.
50 percent discounts are also available to drivers with one ore more passengers during peak travel times. To be eligible, drivers must first have a TollTag, TxTag, or EZ TAG on their windshield and will need to activate their TEXpress HOV status online or via the TEXpress mobile app. For more information on discounts and to activate your HOV status, click here.
“Because the TEXpress Lanes were designed for commuters interested in getting from one end of the corridor to the other end as quickly as possible, there are a limited number of entrance and exit ramps,” according to the project’s website.
The TEXpress project will hold an open house for the general public on Tuesday, September 8, 2015, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Wyndham Garden Dallas North located at 2645 LBJ Freeway in Dallas, Texas. “This open house will allow members of the public to review maps, see videos and ask questions about the project and the TEXpress Lanes,” stated the project’s website.
Additional resources and maps are available on the project’s website, here. The project also uploaded a how-to video on the usage of the TEXpress lanes and also a fly-over video of the project, seen below.
