KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued several watches and warnings for a series of severe storms expected to impact Kaufman County over the weekend.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued several watches and warnings for a series of severe storms expected to impact Kaufman County over the weekend.
A Flash Flood Watch was issued Saturday morning for Kaufman County and will remain in effect through 6 a.m. on Monday. Forecasts indicate Kaufman County can expect between four and six inches of rain with locally higher amounts. “There is an enhanced risk of severe storms through Sunday morning across all of North and Central Texas,” stated the NWS. “Atmospheric conditions are favorable for all types of severe weather, including tornadoes.”
A Tornado Watch was issued for all 46 North Texas counties, including Kaufman County, until 8 p.m. Saturday.
With heavy rains anticipated, the NWS issued Flood Warnings for the East Fork Trinity River area through Kaufman County and is expected to impact the Crandall, Combine, Scurry, and Rosser areas.
Flood stage on the East Fork Trinity River is expected to crest near 23 feet by Monday morning in the Crandall and Combine area. Flood stage is at 18 feet and major, out of bank flooding, is expected at 22 feet.
In Rosser, the flood stage on the East Fork Trinity River is 31 feet and major flooding is forecast with the river expected to rise above flood stage by Sunday afternoon and crest near 39 feet by Tuesday after midnight, according to the NWS.
A rain and snow mix is possible in the Dallas area but no accumulation or impacts are expected with temperatures expected to remain above freezing.
