Flash Flood Watch issued for Kaufman County until 6 a.m. Sunday

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Kaufman County from 6 p.m. Thursday night until 6 a.m. Sunday.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Kaufman County from 6 p.m. Thursday night until 6 a.m. Sunday.

The Flash Flood Watch was issued for anticipated widespread rainfall of three to seven inches with locally higher rain totals through Saturday night.

“A strong storm system and a persistent influx of moisture will lead to multiple rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall Thanksgiving evening through early Sunday across North and Central Texas,” stated the NWS.

The highest rainfall amounts are expected north of Interstate 20 and near the Red River with lower rainfall amounts south of Interstate 20.

“Widespread rain and few thunderstorms will be expected tonight,” stated the NWS. “Some of the storms may produce have rainfall that may cause flash flooding.”

“The threat for flash flooding increases in Friday and Saturday as periods of moderate to heavy rainfall continue,” stated the NWS. “Some flood impacts may continue into Sunday when the rain finally ends.”
