KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Flood Advisory at 2:02 p.m. for Kaufman and Van Zandt Counties until 5 p.m.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Flood Advisory at 2:02 p.m. for Kaufman and Van Zandt Counties until 5 p.m.
Doppler radar indicated continuous heavy rain due to approaching thunderstorms which will cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area, according to the NWS.
“Some locations that will experience flooding include Terrell, Seagoville, Forney, Kaufman, Canton, Wills Point, Sunnyvale, Grand Saline, Mabank, Crandall, Van, Combine, Talty, Edgewood, Kemp, Fruitvale, Edom, Grays Prairie, Cottonwood, and Purtis Creek State Park,” stated the NWS.
Kaufman County remains under a Flash Flood Watch until 7 a.m. Sunday due to prolonged heavy rainfall with rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches possible through Sunday morning with the heaviest rainfall expected late tonight and into Saturday morning.
As of 7:26 a.m., some portions of Kaufman County have recorded more than 4 inches of rain with Terrell reading 2.64 inches and two Kaufman sites reading 2 inches and 1.73 inches of rain, according to the NWS.
