The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office arrested former Kaufman County Justice of the Peace Eric Williams after searching his home Friday afternoon, April 12, 2013.
According to Kaufman County inmate records, Williams was booked in Kaufman County jail at 12:32 a.m. on April 13, 2013. Records indicate that Williams was charged with making a terroristic threat and is being held on a $1 million bond. He also has two counts of "insufficient bonds" each carrying an additional $1 million bond.
Authorities executed search warrants at Williams' home and the home of his relatives that is close in proximity. The search lasted for several hours and FBI agents were seen removing boxes from Williams' home and vehicle.
Williams was convicted of burglary and theft by a public servant last year after stealing computer equipment from the county's IT Department while serving as the county's Justice of the Peace. That case was prosecuted by ADA Mark Hasse and DA Mike McLelland in Kaufman County's 422nd District Court. Williams was sentenced to two years probation and is appealing his conviction.
Williams has already been questioned by authorities regarding the murders of the Kaufman County prosecutors and says that he is cooperating with law enforcement. Williams was also tested for gunshot residue after the McLelland murders, the results of which have not been released by law enforcement.
Investigators have still not officially named Williams as a suspect in the case and the search warrant affidavits have been sealed.
Attempts to reach authorities for comment about Williams' arrest have been unsuccessful.
