FORNEY, Texas — The Forney City Council appointed an interim city manager on Tuesday night, February 2, 2016, to serve as the city’s top administrator while a search is conducted to find a new city manager in the wake of former City Manager Brian Brooks’ resignation last month.

Following an executive session at the end of Tuesday night’s regularly scheduled meeting, the Forney City Council returned to the council chambers and unanimously voted to appoint Charles Daniels as the interim city manager effective February 12, 2016.

Daniels, who spoke with inForney.com, most recently served as the interim city manager in Addison, Texas, while their city was doing a similar search for a permanent city manager.

Prior to Addison, Daniels served as the Assistant City Manager in Fort Worth from 2008 until he retired in January 2015. Daniels also served as the Assistant City Manager in Dallas for nine years, as an assistant city manager for the City of Waco, and was previously employed by the City of Fort Worth from 1982 until 1989.

“I’ve been involved in the public sector for 40 years,” Daniels told inForney.com.

“Daniels has a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from TCU, and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of North Texas,” according to the City of Fort Worth’s website.

A search for a permanent city manager is expected to take approximately six months, according to city officials.
