The City of Forney's Fire Department is accepting applications for volunteer firefighters. Applications will be accepted until December 6, 2013, at the Utility Billing department inside City Hall.
The City of Forney's Fire Department is accepting applications for volunteer firefighters. Applications will be accepted until December 6, 2013, at the Utility Billing department inside City Hall.
Applicants will be required to pass a physical agility test that includes a one-mile run, climbing a 65-foot ladder at a 70 degree angle, a 180 pound dummy drag, and several other fire equipment related tests. Other requirements for applicants are listed below:
- Complete an application form.
- Be a citizen of the United States.
- Be 19 years of age or older on the day of the tests that are required for this position.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Have no felony convictions or such a number of misdemeanor convictions that would indicate a habitual law violator or any number of infractions that are contrary to requirements stated in the Forney Fire Department Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Possess at least a Class “B” drivers license, within six months of appointment, that is not in jeopardy of suspension and a driving record that would justify employment in a position requiring operation of a city vehicle.
- Pass a physical agility test, an extensive background check, a medical exam, a drug screen, and be present for an interview board at the scheduled time.
- Be approved by the Chief of the Forney Fire Dept. and the volunteer membership of the department.
- Meet any additional requirements that may be in affect at the time of application.
