FORNEY, Texas — It was a harrowing rescue, all caught on camera.

Three Balch Springs Police Department officers arrived first on scene of a burning two-story apartment building early Monday morning.

One of those officers is a 2013 graduate of Forney High School.

The officers cleared the eight-unit apartment building but were unable to access one of the second-floor units due to the encroaching fire. They realized their worst fears when they looked up to see a 10-year-old boy peering out one of the windows calling for help.

As the mother and boy struggled to break the window, Officer Corey Jones, the Forney graduate, threw his ASP baton and broke the window. The three officers coaxed the boy into jumping from the window into their awaiting arms.

Ultimately, due to the heroics of the officers and subsequent fire department response, no injuries were reported in the fire.
