FORNEY, Texas — A season for the ages results in multiple awards for excellence. The Forney Lady Rabbits soccer team delivered a historic 2025 campaign, rewriting the program’s record books and establishing themselves among the state's elite. With an electric 23-2 finish and a march to the state semifinals, the Lady Rabbits showcased a brand of soccer built on speed, grit, and undeniable talent.
Guided by 10-6A Coach of the Year Trisha Williamson, Forney conquered the 10-6A District Championship with an unblemished 12-0 mark, then stormed through the playoffs, capturing Bi-District, Area, Regional Semifinal, and Regional Final titles.
But the story of the season isn’t just one of trophies — it’s about milestones, leadership, and a core of players who made school history by earning the program's first-ever First and Second Team All-State honors.
Senior midfielder Kyleigh Johnson epitomized Forney’s relentless spirit. Named 10-6A Most Valuable Player, Johnson tallied 14 goals and 10 assists, quarterbacking the team from midfield with poise and precision. Her excellence was recognized with TASCO All-State and All-Tournament Team honors. Next year, she will take her talents to the University of Arizona.
"The new district challenged and motivated us and we just wanted to keep winning," Johnson said. "It was super fun and competitive; I couldn't have asked for a better senior season."
Freshman sensation Addison Staats added a dynamic layer to the squad, earning 10-6A Utility Player of the Year for her ability to impact the game at every position on the field.
Defensive cornerstone Brooklynn Sosa, also a freshman, captured Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-State honors, while contributing seven goals and eight assists from the backline — a rare two-way force.
Junior Zeniyah Russell flashed brilliance on the biggest stages, her blistering speed and creativity netting her First Team TASCO All-State and All-Tournament Team selections.
On the attack, sophomore Kalani Brundage proved unstoppable, racking up 19 goals and 17 assists on her way to First Team honors.
Then there was senior forward Madalynn Putnam, who provided a masterclass in goal-scoring excellence. Putnam led the team with 23 goals and 17 assists, earning First Team All-District and Second Team All-State recognition. She will continue her soccer journey at the University of North Texas.
"I’m very proud of this team and myself for how much we have grown as players the last two years," Putnam said. "For me, being able to be top goal scorer in district two years in a row is something I worked hard for and am proud of! The team making it to state semifinals this year was so exciting to make history for LRS and I’m so glad I got to be a part of it!"
Sophomore Addison Smith also turned heads with 21 goals and 12 assists, securing First Team All-District and Honorable Mention All-Region honors.
The Lady Rabbits' roster overflowed with depth and determination. Among the honorees:
Delilah Rico (Senior) — Second Team; committed to Seminole State College
Devyn Gee (Sophomore) — Second Team
Olivia Foresman (Sophomore) — Second Team
Willow Smith (Sophomore) — Second Team
Cinnamon Hurst (Sophomore) — Honorable Mention
Carson Mitchell (Senior) — Honorable Mention
Annabelle Vasquez (Freshman) — Honorable Mention

Coach Williamson praised her team not just for their accolades but for their resilience and unity.
"Having two high-caliber freshmen like Addison Staats and Brooklynn Sosa starting and contributing every game made a huge difference/ They were able to join a roster of talented sophomores and juniors from last year." Williamson said. "But the leadership from our seniors — their determination to make history — set the tone for everything we achieved."
With a new generation of stars already making their mark, and a culture built on excellence and heart, Forney Lady Rabbit Soccer isn’t just celebrating a banner year — they’re building a dynasty
