Forney, Texas - According to witnesses, two Forney Police officers saved a young person's life as they apparently tried to jump from the Pinson Road bridge on Thursday night in a possible suicide attempt.
Witnesses say the person was standing on the bridge and holding onto the top of the bridge's rail when officers arrived on scene. Moments later, the individual began climbing over the wall when officers lunged in and grabbed the individual - pulling them back to safety.
The Forney Police Department responded to a request for additional information made by inForney.com on Friday afternoon and said the individual involved was in fact a non-juvenile female. According to Forney Police Department's Detective Clay, officers were made aware of the female because several people called 9-1-1 about a juvenile smoking on the bridge. "It was determined for the individual's safety that the individual be taken into custody and be evaluated due to possible suicidal actions," Clay stated.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013, on the northbound lane where there is no pedestrian path or protective fence.
Because of the nature of the call and age of the female, authorities are unable to provide further details. Based on witness accounts, inForney.com originally reported the individual as a young man, this has been corrected.
