According to election officials, 25,499 voters showed up to the polls to cast their ballot during the twelve days of early voting. The highest number of early voters on record in either a presidential or midterm election for Kaufman county.

Forney voters led with 11,877 voters who cast their ballot at the downtown sub court house. 6,243 people voted in Kaufman, with 5,244 people in Terrell. Kemp had 2,135 ballots cast.

As of close of business on Friday, the county elections department had received an additional 1,697 absentee ballots in the mail. 2,041 absentee ballots had been requested. This number surpasses the 1,686 absentee ballots cast in the presidential election of 2016. Absentee ballots will be collected through Tuesday.

With a little over 72,000 registered voters in Kaufman County, approximately 38% percent have already voted prior to tomorrow’s election day according to officials.

“It is so exciting to see so many voters get to the polls during the midterm. It is apparent that the residents of Kaufman county have something to say,” said Amy Tarno, the Republican candidate running for Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 in Forney. “I am just anxious to hear what that message is.”

Kaufman County will have 30 polling locations throughout the county on Tuesday, and voters can vote at any location that is most convenient for them. Polls are open from 7 AM – 7 PM. For a list of polling locations please click HERE.
