Neighbors gathered on the unseasonably warm day to make sure that the fire was contained and was not a threat to their homes. Forney Fire Chief Rick Townsend directed firefighters at the scene while the Forney Police Department utilized patrol vehicles to block off the streets from traffic.

The fire appeared to start at the back of the house, though no cause is confirmed at this time. When firefighters opened the garage door of the residence, a plume of black smoke came rushing out. The homeowners had a recently restored red Chevy Camaro inside the garage that appeared to only suffer smoke damage.

Heather Earl said, “I know what it feels like to come home and not have your home. It just breaks your heart...it's not just about the things that you lost. All I can do to help these people is to pray for them.”
